Second Event Second Win. (September 26, 2008)
Returning to Milton Keynes SNOzone on September 21st, Martin faced growing competition in this fast action indoor Ski X event.
The numbers were up on July's race and the Junior catagory provided the most fiercely fought competition of the day.
The course was a big improvement on previous events and a tight set proved to be a real challenge as all 4 racers battled down the slope. A small drop off jump half way down lead into a sequence of 4 fast turns into the final 6 metre gap jump. The down ramp was a real feature of the course and there were no real injuries.
Martin's qualification time was second fastest for the day, which meant he didn't get first lane choice for the heats, but a great start put him up front and best placed for the first 3 tight turns.
A crash at the third threw 2 of the racers out of the course which left Martin and Jake Mills to take 1st and 2nd, with Alex Castle coming in third after regaining position following his fall.
The final all came down to the start, and a pumped Martin flew out the gates and with 2 solid pushes hit the lead again and never looked back. The competition never gave up, with Marek Behnke on the back of his skis for the entire race. Both racers hit the final jump and were in the air together, with Martin crossing the finish line in first place.
2 out of 2 for Martin.
A great days skiing, and a very well run event.
